July Box: The Summer Cookout

Well, hello there!

I hope you’re all enjoying your summer so far! Rising energy costs, gas prices, and my 4 kids wanting to eat 24/7 means we’re spending our summer in Marion County 😅, but we’re making the most of it! I’m hoping we can find something fun to do for the 4th of July! Any ideas?

Speaking of which, this month’s flavors were inspired by 4th of July potlucks. My church in Palm Beach used to have huge picnics at Okeeheelee Park, with all kinds of interesting foods. I’ve honestly never tried Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and only just recently tried Watermelon Lemonade, but they sounded like foods that should be at a summer cookout, so why not. lol

Alright, enough chit chat. Let’s see this month’s flavors!

Blueberry Cheesecake

CONTAINS WHEAT, ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK, CORNSTARCH

Cinnamon graham cracker-infused macaron shells, filled with cheesecake flavored buttercream and homemade blueberry jam. Rolled in graham cracker streusel.

Bomb Pop

CONTAINS: ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK

One blue raspberry flavored shell and one cherry flavored shell, filled with lime buttercream

Cheesecake Burgers

CONTAINS: ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK

I unfortunately added too much cocoa powder to the macaron batter, so these “buns” look more like pretzel buns or maybe rye bread 🙄, but honestly is too much chocolate really a bad thing?

Anyways. It’s filled with chocolate cheesecake buttercream and vanilla buttercream, made to look like a cute little Pretty Patty.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

CONTAINS: ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK, WHEAT, CORNSTARCH

Macarons filled with strawberry rhubarb buttercream and a TINY dollop of homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. Rolled in cinnamon streusel. (That jam is very tart, so I only put a little bit because I didn’t want these to taste like warhead macarons. 😅)

Watermelon Lemonade

CONTAINS: ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK

Watermelon lemonade flavored macarons, filled with watermelon lemonade buttercream. Pretty straightforward. lol

White Chocolate Cherry

CONTAINS: ALMONDS, EGGS, MILK, SOY

Cherry flavored macarons, filled with white chocolate buttercream and white chocolate cherry buttercream. Drizzled with white chocolate

And this month’s treat is kind of similar to last month’s. I tweaked the Blueberry Muffin cookie recipe a bit and turned it into Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookies with cinnamon bun filling. I don’t know why, but these cookies spread like crazy! I clearly need to go back to the drawing board and tweak a few more things, but I’ve been obsessed with trying to create a Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookie, so next month might also feature some kind of Cinnamon Toast Crunch-type dessert. lol

Next month’s theme is Carnival Foods (again!). I don’t think I’d started the subscription boxes yet, when I did this theme before. It was really fun to do, because there are so many decadent and interesting foods at carnivals! Can’t wait to explore more of those!
